- E.B. White
The Drive; our Red Wine that embodies the every straight and bend of the open road. Music, conversation, pit stops, and passenger pass-outs; there are few journeys as sought after as the classic road trip. This wine explores the various red grape varietals known from around the world, but embraced by the Niagara region, that allow us to commemorate those legendary drives over hours of swirling and sipping.

The Drive is to be brought wherever one or many may ponder until morning.
INSPIRATION:
Where Cabernet Franc typically second fiddle, blending complimentarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, in Saumur-Champigny, it is loved monogamously. This smaller appellation only miles away from Saumur, and located on the Loire River, showcases fresh and fruity expression of Cabernet Franc. Ruby red in colour and bringing notes of pepper and spice, these wines became famous for the Parisian socialite, as they retreated to the Loire Valley on holiday.

INTERPRETATION:
Our 2021 Cabernet Franc is inspired by the vervy, elegant, aromatic reds of Saumur-Champigny. The fruit was sorted in the vineyard to maximize quality then destemmed and fermented using indigenous yeast to achieve a complex flavour profile. It was aged in 20% new and 80% 3rd fill French Oak for 18 months. It balances bright fruit and floral aromas with a hint of smoke, spice and dried herbs lingering in the background. The palate is firm and dry with fine tannins and a lingering finish.
