The Ride; the black sheep of our portfolio that strives for nothing more than to be different. Throwing caution to the wind, this Skin-Contact wine seeks to demonstrate the versatility of its grapes that are commonly boxed into the "red or white" category. While paying homage to its heritage, these wines take a fresh and exciting approach to tannin, acidity, and of course colour.
The Ride is for those who fear not the convention of wine.
INSPIRATION:
Few will endeavour to innovate the old like the winemakers of California. The region has embraced Natural Wines' legacy to spearhead the rebranding of the most ancient style of winemaking started hundreds of years ago in the Near-East. For those who crave something bright but complex, acidic while tannic, white but red... Orange Wine is reborn.
INTERPRETATION:
Ripe Gewurtztraminer with dark gold-pink skins was hand-picked, destemmed and crushed into vat where it underwent a cold soak at 8 degrees Celsius for 5 days to extract flavour phenolics. It was then brought up to ambient temperature to allow wild yeast to kick into action and ferment the must. After 20 days on skins, the wine was pressed off and settled in tank, then racked gently a month alter, before being hand bottled. No finings or filtration were ever employed.
